138 Writing an Obituary-For Yourself or Someone Else
In-Person | Registration opens 8/5/2026 9:00 AM CDT
For almost everyone, an obituary is inevitable. What it says and how it appears in print will be out of our control once we have taken our last breath—unless we have prepared something beforehand, whether it’s a complete obituary or some written notes. Some obituaries are succinct, others lengthy. Some are first-person, others are written by committee. Some will bring a tear to our eye, others will make us laugh, and some are a combination of emotions. This presentation will look at various types of obituaries and cover some of the important details to include. It will encourage and assist you in finding a style that fits your personality and desires—whether it’s your own obituary or one for someone else.
