Door County has produced many colorful figures, and a surprising number found their way into the Wisconsin State Assembly. This course examines two of them: Barney Hahn, an alleged serial arsonist and dubious businessman, and John Peltier, a fisherman and self-proclaimed medium who was repeatedly arrested for violating fishing laws. Through their stories, you’ll peek into the political and social landscape of Wisconsin in the 1920s and 1930s that allowed for such interesting men to rise to prominence.
