043 Defending Democracy: The League of Women Voters in Door County and Beyond
In-Person | Registration opens 1/7/2026 9:00 AM CST
Democracy has never felt more fragile-or more vital to defend. This session introduces participants to the League of Women Voters of Door County and its mission to empower voters and protect democracy. Attendees will learn how the Door County League is linked to state and national networks, working together to confront constitutional challenges, safeguard fair representation, and ensure every voice counts. With Wisconsin at the center of the nation’s democratic crossroads, this course will offer a candid look at the stakes we face, the programs and advocacy driving the League’s work, and how citizens can stand up to protect democratic institutions at the local, state, and national levels. The session also covers how the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact works, why it matters for ensuring every vote is equal, and what it would mean for Wisconsin.
