Create a sculpture based on gathered rocks to create a “cairn”. Then add your own clay birds to your rock piece. You will provide the rock selections that you bring to class. Bring 3-5 rocks that should be stackable, no larger than 8” in diameter and relatively flat. As winter snows melt, find rocks that have color and character that will become the base to mount clay birds that we will create in class. You will sculpt birds made from terra cotta clay to be perched on your cairn creation. This can be an indoor or outdoor piece. Finishing processes will be discussed and demonstrated in class.
