On June 30^th, 2019, Captain Raymond Sheldon and Peggy O’Connell made history as they exchanged vows aboard the M/V Joseph L. Block. Raymond became the first active captain to wed on a Great Lakes vessel he was actively commanding. Since then, Peggy and Ray have embraced a life filled with adventure on the Great Lakes and around the world. Ray worked on Great Lakes freighters for 45 years and since his retirement he and Peggy have worked together aboard tugboats, ice breakers, and tour boats as well as sailing the Mediterranean and crossing the Atlantic from Italy to Tampa. Last year they were guests on the Paul R. Tregurtha, the largest freighter on the Great Lakes.
