033 Crossroads: What is a Freshwater Estuary?
In-Person | Registration opens 8/6/2025 9:00 AM CDT
A lecture on the freshwater estuaries of the Door Peninsula. Freshwater estuaries are areas within the Great Lakes where river or stream water mixes with lake water, creating a unique and chemically distinct ecosystem. While they do not contain saltwater, these environments function similarly to coastal estuaries, supporting diverse plant and animal life. At Crossroads, we like to say, “The Cove Estuary is where waters meet.”
