032 Crossroads: Ida Bay Preserve Past and Future
In-Person | Registration opens 8/6/2025 9:00 AM CDT
A lecture on the cultural and ecological significance of the preserve. Though Crossroads’ Ida Bay Preserve may appear to be untouched wilderness, this land has a long history of human activity. Over the years, it has been home to Indigenous peoples, loggers, canal diggers, resort guests and employees, truck farmers, as well as local and migrant orchard workers. Each group left an impact on the land, often in ways that were detrimental. Currently, Crossroads is engaged in a three-year restoration effort to preserve the area’s significant natural diversity while minimizing human-caused degradation.
