In this two session workshop you will create two hand bound, hard covered notebooks.

In session 1 you will get an overview of the materials, tools and methods used in making a handmade book. After this brief overview, we will move on to making a hardcover pamphlet stitch notebook.

In session 2, we will build on the techniques learned to make a similar hardcover book, but this time using a more involved stitching technique: the double-Italian long stitch. Once you know these bookbinding basics, you will have opened up a Pandora’s box of bookbinding possibilities!

Lisa is primarily a bookbinder, but one who creates many of her own papers for use in the books that she makes.

The printing techniques that she uses in her work include gelli plate prints, watercolor botanical prints, eco-printing, lino cut and collagraph printing.

She has taken numerous classes in bookbinding and print making in both the U.S. and abroad.

Lisa has a small bindery in State College where she works and offers individual instruction in book binding.
