Learn the (3) basic gelli plate printmaking techniques plus how to push your designs further in this online Zoom class. Create dozens of patterned and textured prints that can be used as stand-alone works of art  or for journaling, collaging, book-making or mixed media projects. You will also learn basic color theory and composition and how to create your own stencils, masks and pattern making tools from household materials. No previous printmaking experience is necessary with this fun, explorative, versatile and simple technique that doesn’t require a printing press – results are immediate and addictive! NOTE: For those who would like to know what to do with “all those gelli prints” this class blends perfectly with Book binding: 4 simple techniques.

  • All participants are required to supply acrylic paints of their color choice prior to the first class. Local students have an option to pick-up a pre-packaged “toolkit” to borrow (cost $15) in order to work from home.  Following the completion of the course, participants must return the toolkit. Kit includes: 4” Brayer, 5” x 7” gelatin plate, X-acto knife, [10] stencil papers, [1] punchinella mask, [1] matboard for cutting stencils, [50] sheets of white paper of different weights. If you are not in the State College area you will need to gather your own materials. When you sign up for the course you’ll receive a list of materials you can start gathering and making from home and suggestions where to purchase your acrylic paint and printmaking tools.
