Would you like to learn more about monoprinting, the painterly approach to screen prints? This is a fun, versatile and quick form of printmaking that combines the spontaneity of painting and drawing with the process of printmaking. You’ll add textures to your images and learn to paint directly onto the screen, using color inks, watercolors and even acrylic paint. Our studio uses non-toxic water-based inks and cleaning techniques. You'll learn how to add hand-cut stencils to you work, building up rich and full images. You will also learn to mix colors, use inks and additives, and layer inks to create prints, and you will leave with many complete prints to share and enjoy!

What will you learn in this workshop?
1. How to print a screenprint.
2. Learn monoprinting techniques: water soluble crayon, textures, brushwork on screen
3. Handle printmaking paper, mix colors, sign prints
4. Work in the community setting of the silkscreen studio with shared materials and equipment; clean and reclaim screens; clean work area and tools.

  • Your supplies are included in the lab fee. We do recommend wearing either an apron, or clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
  • • Bring a sketchbook, pencil and camera to record your experience.
